Ballroom Series

Celebrated naval architect, Frank E. Kirby, and interior designer Louis O. Keil designed Columbia to be a work of technological and artistic marvel. Her full-sized ballroom was the first to ever appear on an American passenger steamer thanks to Kirby’s innovative girder system that allowed for large unobstructed deck spaces.

In order to restore Columbia‘s ballroom, we launched The Ballroom Series in December 2015 with the goal of raising $50,000. We have raised $25,000 so far, halfway towards our goal, and we need your help to continue this momentum.

Host a Ballroom - Save a Ballroom

The Ballroom Series consists of monthly cocktail parties, dinners, and other events hosted by volunteers just like you. Each event is as unique as the host and all of the proceeds go towards the restoration of Columbia‘s historic ballroom. As an added bonus, we have teamed up with Classic Harbor Line Cruises to raffle off two free trips to one lucky host. After all, what better way to be rewarded for helping to restore a historic waterfront space than by being on the water itself.

A special thank you to our Ballroom Series hosts: Sarah Davidson, Ian Danic and Chris Arnett, Carmela Rea and Geoffrey Lynch, Hooper Brooks, Jon and Juliet Varnedoe, Otis and Nancy Pearsall, and Brad Vogel.
