Our project is based on an adapted European non-profit business model wherein the SSCP will generate substantial earned revenues to subsidize its core educational and cultural mission. Success for the non-profit will include the necessity of creating experience and programming that satisfies the needs of the public and avoids wasteful practices. The SSCP will be a model of responsible heritage tourism, exemplifying sustainable development and growth, in addition to cultural and environmental stewardship. Moreover, daily trips will offer on-board cultural and educational programming to help spread this vision and spur similar community development to enrich the entire region. The fully restored Columbia, with her historic beauty and grandeur and use of green technologies, will serve as the perfect iconic tool through which these goals will be reached.
