Business Plan

Published by TDas

The goals of the SS Columbia project are to restore the National Historic Landmark vessel SS Columbia to its original splendor; create a mobile museum and culture events venue that offers educational and cultural programming; and provide seasonal excursions on the vessel from New York City to the Hudson River Valley. To finance our goals and ensure our sustainability, the project is adapting the European non-profit business model that has been applied to a number of a maritime preservation projects in Europe and the United States. The vessel’s restoration will be funded through a traditional capital campaign – major individual gifts, corporate sponsorships, and government funding. Subsequently, the SSCP will become self-supporting through substantial revenues from passenger admissions, events venue rentals, and merchandizing, as well as memberships and fundraising. The earned revenues will subsidize the project’s cultural and educational mission and the vessel’s operations and basic maintenance.
