Multiple Beneficial Impacts
The SS Columbia Project will offer multiple beneficial impacts, including:
• The restoration of the NHL SS Columbia incorporating sustainable green technologies.
• A mobile museum and cultural events venue offering educational and cultural programming.
• The re-establishment of an historic Hudson River excursion transportation linkage between New York City and the communities of the Hudson River Valley. The restoration of excursion services will permit the cultural and environmental resources of the valley to be offered as an easily accessible and marketable package to visitors, resulting in important secondary impacts in responsible economic development, environmental awareness, and waterfront revitalization.
